The only excuse I can come up with for not posting in over a month is I wanted my last post to echo on for a little while. I haven't crunched any numbers yet, but I know 1.5-2k has been raised. I left for home mid December and just haven't really felt the urge to write. That, plus I have had quite a bit on my mind.
As usual, being home has been fantastic. Winter break is different though, as a lot of my friends are in town that I never get to see. The times in my life are now few and far between in which I communicate with real life friends more than online ones. I do love both, but I do have to balance my friending range obv....zing.
Having tremendous money swings these past few months combined with being around such loving people has really confirmed my attitude towards money; I'm rather apathetic. This is the time where everyone in the poker world is thinking of goals to meet, prop bets to motivate, and a long list of resolutions. I'm not saying that is a bad thing, I very much do the same thing most of the time. I think I've figured out why I don't really have that sick drive to make a lot of money this year though.
Getting rolled for 10k in one week and winning 25k in one day did absolutely nothing for my attitude toward life. Each situation is "bad" and "good" in their own regards, but neither greatly altered my life in any way particular. All of my good memories from this year have been times spent with my girlfriend, friends, and family. Admittedly, money does make things more enjoyable when spending it with others, but fancy watches don't really make me any happier, so what's the point.
Focusing on the people I love in my life, making the world a better place through poker, and the drive to share my love for music with others, is what drives me. I've never been a proponent of new years resolutions. I believe that if someone has to wait until a certain date to better their life, they weren't serious about it in the first place and will fail. Self respect and love for others is what should motivate. Money does not buy happiness, it is merely a tool that should be used for the necessities and the betterment of others.
I'm anticipating great things to happen this year and I can only wish the same for you.

Good read Ben.. Hope you continue to prosper in 2011
Hey - thanks for the comment and encouragement. Obviously you have a full schedule and many fish to fry so appreciate your offer a lot. Happy for you to delete this or not publish in case it results in you getting inundated with requests for help! In the event that I ship you a hand or two sometime, my skype is 'james_mcateer'. GL in 2011.
my last years resolution was to quit smoking and cook more. I think resolutions are great little traditional motivaters. I accomplished both of them. A year was the perfect amount of time to do so. This years resolution is to eat less junk food and take more risks. I wuv you.
Hey Ben. Thanks for the comment. I took your advice! When you have time check my latest post. GL
